Spring 2013: ENG 133a, Advanced Shakespeare offers an intensive reading of Shakespeare's work, using the tools of literary criticism, performance practice, and historical research. We will investigate six plays, the Sonnets, and The Rape of Lucrece, attending in particular to the languages of love, friendship, sexuality, and gender, on the one hand, and figures of performing, writing, spectating, auditing, and reading, on the other.
